SHERRARD, Ill. — The Sherrard School Board hired Rebecca Rodocker as its new superintendent Tuesday night.
She will begin her new job July 1.
“I think it’s a great opportunity,” Rodocker said. “I am anxious for a change. Sherrard has a great reputation, and I think it’s going to be a great district to work in.”
Rodocker has served as superintendent of the West Liberty School District in Iowa since 2001. She replaces Robert Gillum at Sherrard. He resigned at the end of last summer to accept a similar position near Springfield.
“When looking at their test assessments and some of the things they are looking at, it just intrigued me,” Rodocker said. “It’s got a different set of issues than my current district, and I just thought it would be a good fit.”
Rodocker received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, administrative degree from California State University and an education specialist degree from Western Illinois University.
Retired administrators Dick Stoltz and Rene Noppe have been serving as interim superintendents since the start of the school year.
