By week’s end, the owners of Klavohn’s Home Furnishings in Geneseo, Ill., and Davenport, hope to have  answers to whether they may reopen after liquidation sales.

In a news release issued last month, David Robinson and his wife, Patty, of Geneseo, said the two stores were closed Jan. 19 “for approximately two weeks to prepare inventory for a large liquidation sale. Klavohn’s will no longer be taking special orders during this reorganization. All scheduled deliveries will take place as usual. All outstanding customer orders will be processed as quickly as possible in accordance with the final reorganization plan. ... The details of the reorganization are still being worked on.”

When contacted by e-mail Monday by the Quad-City Times, David Robinson passed along his hopes that the matter will soon be resolved.

“We are still working with Central Bank (of Geneseo) on a resolution. Hope to have a decision by end of this week. Until I have an answer from Central, I have no new updates for anyone.”

The Robinsons purchased the longtime business in 1999 from Don Klavohn, who opened it in 1942.

In 2005, they moved to a new, larger building in a strip center near Interstate 80 in Geneseo.

In May 2007, they  moved the Geneseo store back to its historic, original site in the downtown.
