Four Quad-City area farmers will be among 21 Farm Bureau leaders who will travel later this month to Vietnam for a market study tour organized by the Illinois Farm Bureau.

Local participants include Tom Mueller, Rock Island County farmer; Kevin Urich, Henry County; Ted Mottaz, Knox County; and Wendell Shauman, Warren-Henderson County.

Ag leaders from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio will get a close-up look at the Vietnamese economy and its need for food and agricultural products.

The tour begins Feb. 28 and runs through March 10.

Eight of the farm bureau leaders served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War era, including Mottaz.
