News staff report
It’s in you, and two area journalists will help you express what you believe.
The Bettendorf Public Library will conduct essay writing workshops in conjunction with the “One Book, One Bettendorf” reading choice of “This I Believe.” Mike Romkey, associate managing editor, Dispatch/Argus, will lead the workshops at 2 p.m. Feb. 5 and 7 p.m. Feb. 12 , and Mark Ridolfi, editorial page editor of the Quad-City Times, will lead the workshops at 5 p.m. Feb. 20 and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
The Bettendorf Public Library is asking community members to contribute to the “One Book, One Bettendorf” project by writing and submitting their own statement of personal belief. The essay should be short, between 300 and 500 words, and may be displayed at the Bettendorf Public Library, posted on the library’s Web site, reprinted in the Quad-City Times or Bettendorf News, or aired on WVIK radio.
Jay Allison and Dan Gediman, the editors of “This I Believe,” will be at the library at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. April 3 and will conduct public readings of locally-written essays.
For more information about the project, contact Maria Levetzow at (563) 344-4191 or mlevetzow@bettendorf.org.
