St. Ambrose to hold cultural lecture

St. Ambrose University will host a lecture and film about the lives of Haitian women Feb. 5 in the Rogalski Center, Ripley and Lombard streets.
Rose-Marie Chierici, a native of Haiti and associate professor of anthropology at the State University College of New York at Geneseo, will speak at 3:30 p.m. about social justice and the relationship between race, gender and socio-economic status. It is the fourth annual Ambrose Women for Social Justice lecture.
The film, “The Sugar Babies: The Plight of Agricultural Workers in the Sugar Industry of the Dominican Republic,” is a documentary exploring the living conditions surrounding the children of sugar cane cutters in Haitian ancestry. It will be shown at 6:30 p.m.
