ALEDO, Ill. — Arson charges have been filed in an Aledo area mobile home fire.
Justin Howell, 20, was arrested Thursday night after an investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office. Howell lived in the mobile home at 1151 Illinois 94, two miles north of Aledo, that was heavily damaged by the blaze Thursday afternoon.
“Upon arrival, we found a bedroom fully engulfed in fire,” Aledo Fire Chief Dennis Litwiler said. “It was pretty quickly extinguished. The trailer had heavy fire damage in the bedroom and a lot of smoke and water damage in the rest of the mobile home.”
The Aledo Fire Department received mutual aid from Reynolds and Viola for water supply. Firefighters were on the scene for about one hour.
Howell is facing a Class 2 felony. He will be arraigned Tuesday and is being held in the Mercer County Jail on $75,000 bond.
