A 23-year-old Davenport man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident early Tuesday.

Davenport police say they were called to an accident at about 4 a.m. in which Alexander Liddell, whose address was not available, crashed into a tree in the 1300 block of West 53rd St.

Liddell was taken to Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street before being transferred to University Hospitals in Iowa City. His injuries were life threatening, police said.

They added that speed was a factor in the accident and Liddell was not wearing a seat belt.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle, a 1998 Dodge Durango.
