A new television ad by Democrat Bill Richardson criticizes the three leading candidates in his party for moving too slowly to remove troops in Iraq.
The ad shows a screen split three ways to focus on the troop withdrawal plans of Richardson’s rivals.
“Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barack Obama have repeatedly said they’ll leave thousands of troops in Iraq indefinitely, even beyond 2013,” the ad’s narrator says.
The ad identifies Richardson, New Mexico’s governor, as “the only major candidate with a plan, endorsed by military and diplomatic leaders, to remove all of our troops.”
Edwards spokesman Dan Leistikow pushed back at the ad’s claims.
“John Edwards strongly believes we must end the war in Iraq and immediately withdraw 40,000 to 50,000 troops,” Leistikow said. “He has also committed to having all combat troops out within nine to 10 months of taking office in 2009.”
Clinton caucus aid — Democrat Hillary Clinton’s campaign has launched a Web site that helps Iowa voters find their caucus locations and even request a ride or baby-sitter on caucus night.
The site, caucusforhillary.com, allows users to type in their addresses to find the location of their caucus precinct.
