EBay president to speak in Bettendorf

Meg Whitman, president and CEO of eBay, will speak Wednesday at a breakfast meeting hosted by the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce. The 7:30 a.m. breakfast is at the Abbey Hotel.

Whitman will tell how eBay became the largest auction service and address emerging e-commerce and business trends. She has been the head of eBay since 1998. According to company information, her expertise in brand building, combined with her consumer technology experience has helped eBay evolve into a leading company that is reshaping online commerce, payments and communications around the world.

Prior to eBay, she was president and CEO of Florists Transworld Delivery, or FTD, and subsequently became general manager of Hasbro Inc.’s Preschool Division. She also held executive positions with Stride Rite Corp., Walt Disney Co., Bain & Co. and Procter & Gamble.

Cost of the continental breakfast presentation is $15 for Bettendorf Chamber members and $20 for non-members. Reservations are required as seating is limited.
