A 23-year-old Davenport woman with prior convictions for fighting and assault is facing charges after she allegedly slashed another woman’s face with a box cutter Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Davenport police Capt. David Struckman said that Kristina Mae Fretto, 23, of 1678 W. 42nd St., Apt. 2, is charged with willful injury with serious injury and going armed with intent.
Fretto allegedly slashed Jessica Feschlein, 21, of Davenport across the face with a box cutter type weapon, causing serious lacerations, Struckman said.
According to the arrest affidavit filed by officer Kyle Chisholm, the incident occurred at 3:13 p.m. at the intersection of 17th and Washington streets, he said.
There was a disturbance involving numerous people on the southwest corner of the intersection.
During the altercation, Fretto allegedly attacked Feschlein with the box cutter.
Feschlein was taken to Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport, for treatment, Struckman said.
According to Chisholm’s affidavit, Feschlein had to have the services of a plastic surgeon and that the cuts to her will cause permanent disfigurement.
Fretto has a conviction for assault with bodily injury from 2005 and a conviction for fighting in 2006, according to Scott County District Court records.
Willful injury with serious injury is a Class C felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years. Going armed with intent is a Class D felony that carries a prison sentence of up to five years.
Fretto was being held Wednesday night in the Scott County Jail on $10,000 bond.
