VILSACK ON THE ATTACK — Former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, working on behalf of Hillary Clinton, is launching an attack on Barack Obama’s health-care plan in a letter sent to Iowa voters.

In the missive, Vilsack argues Obama’s plan would leave as many as 15 million Americans without health-care coverage.

“That’s not really universal coverage at all,” Vilsack writes. “And when questioned about the flaws in his plan, Mr. Obama threw back talking points worthy of Rudy Giuliani or Mitt Romney.”

In a postscript to the letter, Vilsack praises Clinton’s health-care plan, saying it offers universal coverage to all Americans.

Clinton’s health-care plan requires Americans to obtain health-care

coverage, while Obama’s does not.

Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor shot back at the criticisms Tuesday, saying they already have been labeled as misleading.

“The truth is Barack Obama believes that before the government forces everyone to buy health insurance, we should first make sure it’s affordable for every single American,” Vietor said. “The real question on health care is who has a record of bringing Republicans and Democrats together to expand coverage, and that person is Barack Obama.”
