From his basement in Kunkleton, Pa., kendor666 lured a Bettendorf teenager.

He convinced her to show him her body over a Webcam. He posted two explicit photos of her on a Web site, after becoming angry that he was contacted by Bettendorf police.

Jason Edward Stella, 30, will spend 16 years in prison for his crime. He will then be on supervised release, with a litany of requirements, for 20 years.

Stella apologized to the girl and her family, as well as his own family and daughter,

during his sentencing Monday in U.S. District Court in

Davenport. He had pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor.

The investigation began in April 2006 after one of the girl’s parents filed a complaint with Bettendorf police and said Stella had been contacting their daughter over the Internet and a cellular phone.

The two first met while playing the online game Diablo, when he was 28 and she was 15, court records state. Stella found out her first and last name, her high school, where she worked and the town in which she lived. The two began talking on the phone every night.

Stella asked the girl whether she had a Webcam. Although she initially refused to use it, she gave in.

“Stella began bugging her about showing him her body, stating she was ‘hot,’ and her body was ‘really hot,’ ” court documents state.

Stella repeatedly showed his naked body over the Webcam, urging her to do the same because “showing their nude bodies was a way to reinforce that trust.”

The girl relented and took off her shirt and bra.

After tracking down Stella, federal agents searched his home, where they seized computers, CDs, videotapes and documents.

A search of his computer found screen recorder software. A review of two of the CDs seized revealed a series of sexually explicit Webcam sessions between Stella and the girl.

“Stella claimed that (the girl) told him she was in love, and that Stella was in love with her,” court documents state. “Stella planned on traveling to meet (the girl), get a motel room and ‘hang out.’ Stella stated that ‘hang out’  included having sex with (the girl).”

By The numbers

Approximately one in seven youths online (10 to 17 years old) received a sexual solicitation or approach over the Internet.

Four percent received an aggressive sexual solicitation — a solicitor who asked to meet them somewhere, called them on the telephone or sent them offline mail, money or gifts.

Thirty-four percent had an unwanted exposure to sexual material — pictures of naked people or people having sex.

Twenty-seven percent of the youths who encountered unwanted sexual material told a parent or guardian. If the encounter was defined as distressing — episodes that made them feel very or extremely upset or afraid — 42 percent told a parent or guardian.
