Consolidation committee formed for merger

ALEDO, Ill. — The Committee of 10 has been formed for the Aledo and Westmer school districts consolidation effort.

The Aledo and Westmer boards of education have appointed their respective representatives to serve on the special committee that will lead development of a plan for the proposed merger of the two Mercer County school districts.

A vote is expected in November 2008. If approved, the consolidated school district would begin in fall  2009.

Westmer appointed Dan Callahan, Stefanie Carey, Eric Coulter, Stacey Gramley and Jeanette Neeld to serve on the committee. Callahan is a farmer, Carey is a secretary at Westmer Secondary School, Gramley is a math teacher at Westmer Secondary School, Neeld is a retired teacher and Coulter is a banker.

Aledo appointed Victor Johnson, Dr. Kristin Wurzburger, Neil Truman, Cheryl Brown and Rachel Fowler. Johnson is a retired Aledo principal and former Aledo School Board member, Wurzburger is a family physician, Truman is a farmer, Brown owns a farming computing business, and Fowler is a principal in the Moline school system.
