The area’s first glimpse of winter storms wiped out high school events across western Illinois and eastern Iowa on Saturday.

At least seven boys and girls basketball games were postponed as sleet and freezing rain swept through the area. The Keith Young Invitational wrestling tournament in Cedar Falls also was postponed.

Some of the games that have been postponed include:

In boys action, Cedar Rapids Washington at Davenport Assumption; Iowa City High at Daveport West and Dubuque Wahlert at North Scott.

Girls games that have been postponed include, Peoria Richwoods at Moline; Rock Island Alleman at Rock Falls; and Iowa City High at Davenport West.

Most schools will determine makeup dates later this week.

In other action Saturday night, the Quad-City Flames home contest against Manitoba still is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
