Tampico boy hurt after school bus hits him

A 10-year-old Tampico boy was injured when he ran into the path of a school bus, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department.
The accident occurred at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of South Main Street. A Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico school bus driven by Diane Garza, 48, of Prophetstown, Ill., was northbound on South Main Street when the boy ran into the street and was hit by the bus.
The boy was taken by ambulance to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Ill. His name and condition were not being released as of Thursday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.
The accident remains under investigation.
