TODAY: (Updated 4:52 p.m.) Moline police are looking for two masked teenagers who attempted to burglarize a man’s home this morning then fired one shot at the victim’s house after he told them he called police.

The incident happened around 2:15 a.m. at a home in the 4700 block of 48th Street A. The owner woke up and found his front door propped open with a lawn chair, police said.

The owner spotted two people standing in his front yard. They ran around the house when he confronted them, police said.

After calling 911 to report the attempted burglary, the home owner went back to close his front door and found the suspects again in his front yard, police said. He yelled at them, warning he called police, and one yelled back before pulling out a gun and firing one shot through a window.

The home owner was not hit by the bullet and suffered no injuries.

A neighbor heard the yelling and looked out the window in time to see the gunshot fired, police said. A crime scene technician determined the weapon was a 9mm handgun.

The suspects were wearing black robes and Halloween-style skeleton masks, police said. One of the suspects took off his mask long enough to be identified as about 15 or 16 years old with shoulder-length dark hair.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Moline police at (309) 797-0401 or Quad-City Crime Stoppers at (309) 762-9500.
