Office sought: Davenport, 8th Ward

What are the most significant challenges facing neighborhoods?  How would you address them?

Public safety and communication. I will work with law enforcement to expand the NETS program. I will work to encourage more neighborhood associations. The City Council should be an advocate for neighborhoods that want to improve their quality of life.

What's most important, providing basic services or adding amenities for residents and visitors?  What approach would you take?

Both are important. We must ensure quality basic services are provided. Improving our city in the forms of increased tourism and attracting quality business is also paramount.

What are the city's most important infrastructure needs?

Roads, sewers, and bridges.

How would you approach economic development?

Professional leadership. I will work to have a positive and friendly approach to business coming to Davenport.

Does the city have enough police officers? Are they deployed properly? What is the council's role in promoting public safety?

No, we do not have enough on the streets. I think we will need to work with the new police chief to ensure all needs are met. Public safety should be one of the basic foundations that we can provide our citizens.

How would you handle situations in which you disagree with another council member or members? Or does it matter?

Be calm. Be professional. Lead by example. Talk to the member offline. Work for a mutual satisfactory agreement.

Should the Isle of Capri take over the RiverCenter South? If not, what should the city encourage the Isle to do?

Probably not. We must help the Isle of Capri find a suitable location that is both beneficial to the Isle and the City of Davenport. Their jobs and the revenue they provide for our schools is very important.

What is your vision for Davenport?

My Vision — five points to success:

a. To have a professional council we can all be proud of.

b. To instill a sense of pride in Davenport.

c. To bring better jobs to Davenport.

d. To continue to reduce crime.

e. To promote Davenport's low cost of living.
