Obama's wife makes stop in Q-C

UPDATE: (Updated 12:33 p.m.) Michelle Obama, wife of U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, had to cut her Wednesday visit to the Carriage Haus in downtown Davenport short.
Even though her husband and other Democratic candidates for president were debating one another in New Hampshire and Michelle was invited to watch the debate with others at the Carriage Haus, her daughter, Sasha, 6, had been sick since last night and was in need of her mom.
“I hold the bucket,” Obama said.
Obama then used the story, which was met with instant applause from a crowd made up mostly of women, to build on the theme of putting families first again in America.
Tyla Bolton of Davenport was impressed with Obama’s statements and found herself relating to them.
“I admire her,” Bolton said. “I was impressed with the fact that she did not have a nanny or someone else hold the bucket. If she had, I might have had a different impression of her.”
Bolton said Obama made the effort to connect to the common working people.
“She talks to normal people; she talks to working people,” she said. “She is not a selfish person.”
Obama built on her theme of putting family first and said she is concerned for the future of the country.
“I ask myself what the world I want to hand over to my girls is,” Obama said.
Of course, she made a case for her husband to become president, saying that America needs new leadership in the White House.
She said Iowa is vital to the race.
“Iowa will make the difference,” Obama said. “If Barack doesn't win
