Davenport voters will elect
10 City Council members and a mayor during the Nov. 6 election. The primary is Oct. 9. As candidates announce they intend to run, the Quad-City Times will publish information about them.
Name: Rick L. Gaghagen
Office sought: 2nd Ward alderman
Age: 55
Occupation: Journeyman plumber
Education: High school graduate, trade apprenticeship at Southern Illinois University.
Political experience/public service: Ran for 2nd Ward in 2005, delegate for Scott County political convention, past officer in Masonic Lodge.
Top issues: “To inform,
communicate and cooperate and compromise as needed while doing business for the community.
I will work within the ward to build communication between businesses and develop an alliance for neighborhood understanding.
To develop talks to represent the ward’s infrastructure and before development begins and have a coalition for the citizens to respond to.
To build a more accessible library for citizens by expanding sidewalks and using traffic engineering practices.
Neighborhood watch groups and more uniformed police within the 2nd Ward. Public safety and basis services — young people should have a place for neighborhood recreation as well as a voice for their concerns for change.
I will be responsible for planning and expansion of the northwest sewer tunnel that is a key issue for our city.”
