New: (Updated: 9:04 p.m.) A 15-year-old bicyclist was taken to a Quad-City hospital Sunday afternoon after he collided with a Ford Escape.
The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Hy-Vee store at 1823 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport.
The purple bike that the boy was riding sat with its wheels in the air. The woman driver of the Ford talked to police while an ambulance transported the boy.
“He was coming through the parking lot, and they collided,” said Staci Nicholson, of LeClaire, Iowa. “He was talking coherently. He gave his mom’s name and phone number.”
Nicholson said that the bike flipped and the boy ended up with his head resting on the front tire.
The boy’s name and condition were unavailable late Sunday.
