Applications will be available Sept. 1 for the controlled deer hunt operated by the Scott County Conservation Board.

Scott County Park and the Wapsi Environmental Education Center in rural Dixon, Iowa, may be hunted by 50 properly-licensed individuals. Officials hope that up to 100 antlerless deer are harvested Dec. 1-3.

Signup forms may be picked up at the main entrance to Scott County Park, at Gate 5 at West Lake Park, and at the Wapsi Center. They are also online at www.scottcountyiowa.com/conservation.

Applications must be received by Sept. 28 for a lottery drawing to be held the first week of October. All applicants will be notified of the lottery results by mail.

Residents of Iowa are eligible to sign up; youths and people with disabilities are encouraged to participate. First-time hunters must pass a safety test and demonstrate shooting proficiency, with trials set for Nov. 3. Special license fees will be paid at Gander Mountain, Davenport.

For more information, contact the Scott County Conservation Board at (563) 383-3280, or check the Web site.
