As an Augustana College student and lifelong resident of the Quad-Cities, I think passenger rail service would be a great addition to the area. First, it would be a great way for my friends from the area to travel to and from school.

Trains are also a much safer way to travel, ensuring parents that their kids are traveling safely. Rail access would help students avoid those late Sunday night drives back to school after going home for the weekend. I’m sure family and friends would use it to visit students on weekends or for alumni events.

Rail access would also be very valuable to Augustana students and make the school more attractive to potential students. Not only that, but it would help alleviate the parking problem, since it would no longer be necessary for many of the students to have cars on campus. It would also provide us college students with a way to get to Chicago for “educational activities.”

Mark me and all of my college friends down as supporters — We want passenger rail!
