Christy Lazaridis had one goal in mind.
And it wasn’t winning a $3,300 check in the Rhythm City Casino Race for the Jackpot at Saturday’s Quad-City Times Bix 7.
“I’d never broken the tape in a race before,’’ Lazaridis, 30, said.
She has now.
With a 2.7-mile head start, Lazaridis crossed the finish line in 30:57, beating men’s elite winner Duncan Kibet of Kenya by 1:18 and topping the previous best Jackpot time of 31:41 recorded by Janelle Swanberg with a 2.4-mile head start in 2005.
The Davenport woman kept alive a string of three-straight jackpot winners, and she will keep the $3,300 check as well.
Her boyfriend, John Gray, said they hope to head to Las Vegas in December, where Christy will run the Las Vegas Marathon.
