A motorcyclist who died in an accident early Sunday on Airport Road has been identified as Douglas Morris, 36, of Rock Island.
Morris was killed at
3:15 a.m. when his 2000 Harley- Davidson collided with an Oldsmobile Alero in the
5300 block of Airport Road in Milan, Ill. The westbound vehicle was turning left when it apparently was struck by the eastbound motorcycle.
Morris was found dead at the scene, according to the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department.
Lt. William Kauzlarich said police are still investigating to determine if the motorcycle was traveling at excessive speeds. The driver of the car, Kevin Simms, 19, of Bettendorf, received citations for failure to yield while turning left and driving while license is suspended, the lieutenant said.
Simms was tested for alcohol, but deputies had not received the results as of Monday, Kauzlarich said.
