Library will have

scavenger hunt Friday

Teen detectives can come to the Bettendorf Public Library from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday to hunt down clues and crack a secret code as part of its annual scavenger hunt.

The event, which offers a yet to be determined prize, promotes the library’s summer reading program. Middle and high school students can attend. They will have to use library resources to find the answers to questions.

“They are so much fun, in no small part that because the library is closed they can be as noisy as they want,” said Maria Levetzow, young adult librarian. “Kids are running and screaming. It’s controlled chaos.”

To register for the scavenger hunt, call (563) 344-4178, stop by the library’s Youth Services Department or go online to www.bettendorflibrary.com/teen/events.htm. Web site registrations will be accepted until 9 p.m. tonight. The event is limited to 24 teens.

Parents can drop their children off at the library lobby and pick them up at the end of the evening.
