COLONA, Ill. — A Colona woman driving a 1996 Toyota was struck and killed by a train in her hometown, police said Tuesday.

Cynthia L. Madden, 50, was hit by the train at 9:50 p.m. Monday in the westbound lane of Cleveland Road, just east of Illinois 84, where it crosses a set of railroad tracks in Colona.

Madden died later at an area hospital, police said.

The Illinois State Police still were investigating the accident Tuesday and further details were not immediately available.
