Illinois Class AA baseball

Metamora 10, Moline 9

PEORIA, Ill. — Metamora used a six-run sixth inning to eliminate Moline from Illinois Class AA regional play in baseball Thursday.

Moline, which won the Western Big Six Conference and was the No. 1 seed, built a 5-2 edge after two innings and 8-4 after five innings.

Metamara (16-20) faces Cantan in Saturday’s regional final.

Alleman 10, Pekin 0

BARTONVILLE, Ill. — Noah Wethington had three hits — two were home runs — and five RBIs, and Tanner Holgate allowed no runs in five innings as Rock Island Alleman defeated Pekin in five innings.

Alleman faces Bartonville in Saturday’s regional final.

Rock Island 11, Geneseo 10

GALESBURG, Ill. — Tyler Radosovich’s three-run home run in the sixth inning sent Rock Island to a 11-10 victory over Geneseo.

Rock Island faces Galesburg in Saturday’s regional championship.

Princeville 7, Sherrard 6

MONMOUTH, Ill. — Sherrard ran out of rallies during its contest with Princeville, losing 7-6 in a sectional semifinal. Sherrard, which trailed by as many as three at 5-2, scored a run in the seventh to get within a run.

Morrison 6, Sterling Newman 0

EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. — Katie Tenboer struck out seven and Abby Vock had two RBIs in Morrison’s 6-0 victory over Sterling Newman.

Morrison faces Milledgeville on Saturday in a sectional final.

Rocks’ Franco falls

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Rock Island’s Chris Franco advanced to the third round in singles play before losing to Connor Roth 6-2, 6-1, while Moline’s Tom Lazenby and Curt Sandhold advanced to the third round of consolations before losing to Michael Chamberlain and Greg Czajkowski 6-3, 6-1.

Moline’s other doubles team of Jason Doh and Paul Gustafson advanced to the second round of consolations before losing.

Franco cruised to his first two victories, winning 6-1, 6-1 in the first round and 6-2, 6-2 in the second round.
