LANSING, Mich. — Donovan Solano broke out of an 0-for-22 slump in a big way and the Swing of the Quad-Cities scored seven runs in the seventh inning to roll to an 11-5 win over the Lansing Lugnuts on Friday night at Oldsmobile Park.

Solano went 4-for-5 and drove in five runs as the Swing (20-15) improved its record to 8-3 for the month of May and 5-3 on their current 10-day road trip.

Lansing battled back from an early deficit to tie the game at 3-3 in the fifth inning, but the Swing nudged into a 4-3 lead, then blew the game open.

It sent 12 men to the plate in the seventh inning, which began and ended with hits by Solano. He and Jim Rapoport each singled to open the inning and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Brandon Buckman was intentionally walked to load the bases and Mark Shorey ripped a two-run single to right. A third run scored on an errant throw to the infield, Chris Grossman doubled in a run and back-to-back walks loaded the bases. Solano then cleared the bases with a three-run double that made it 11-3.

Solano had opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-run single.

Brandon Dickson (6-2) became the Midwest League’s first six-game winner despite allowing three runs on six hits over five innings.

Blake King pitched well out of the bullpen, retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced and striking out four.
