ALEDO, Ill. — The Mercer County Family YMCA has announced a $400,000 expansion project. The Aledo facility was constructed in 1993 and is now looking to expand its Cardio Room.

“We are always striving to provide more and more at the YMCA just to meet our membership,” campaign fundraising chairman Joe Reid of Aledo said. “It has really become apparent that the cardio is an area where there is really a need in the community.”

The decision to move forward with the expansion follows a study conducted by the YMCA board along with a strategic planning session and architectural plans.

“The YMCA’s mission is to help everyone grow in spirit, mind and body,” YMCA board member Wayne Beck said. “Providing the facility necessary for this mission to be achieved is one of our responsibilities.“
