Hancher releases 2007-08 schedule

“Daily Show” comedian and actor Lewis Black, dance groups Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and the Broadway musicals “My Fair Lady,” “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and “Movin’ Out” are among the offerings for the 2007-08 season at Hancher Auditorium at the University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Brochures were mailed to Hancher subscribers Thursday for the auditorium’s 35th season. More information is available at the Hancher Web site, www.hancher.uiowa.edu.

Black, who recently had movie credits in “Man of the Year,” “Accepted” and “Unaccompanied Minors,” will perform Sept. 22. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago performs a work commissioned by the Hancher on Oct. 12, and Ailey’s troupe performs April 8-9.

Broadway touring companies of “My Fair Lady” will perform Dec. 12-15; “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” based on the movie, is March 7-8, and “Movin’ Out,” featuring the music of Billy Joel and choreography of Twyla Tharp, is April 4-6.
