Accident closes River Drive

(Larry Fisher/Quad-City Times) Davenport Police take measurements at the scene of a head on crash on River Drive between Bridge and College Avenues.

TODAY: (Updated 8:26 a.m.) A head-on accident closed East River Drive this morning between College and Bridge avenues.

The accident occurred just after 5 a.m. Around 8:30 this morning, crews were clearing the road and getting it ready to reopen.

More information on the accident, including the condition of the drivers, was not immediately available.

Meanwhile, the Scott County Sheriff’s Department warned drivers to avoid Highway 130 because of ponding water. The department said that if drivers must use the highway, they should use extreme caution and reduce speed.
