A Davenport man arrested for a shooting on Pershing Avenue in January, also faces a charge for felon in possession of a handgun when he was arrested earlier this week.

The additional charge was added Thursday against Dawayne Mac McGowan, 27 of 1009 W. 14 1/2 St., according to court documents. He was in the Scott County Jail on Friday afternoon on $48,750 bond.

He was arrested Tuesday night in Bettendorf. Police say when they searched 975 39th St., Apt. 9, they found McGowan hiding in a bedroom closet and found a revolver with him. He admitted to police that he owns the gun.

McGowan is charged with going armed with intent, willful injury with serious injury, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon in the Jan. 7 shooting of Terrell  Lillybridge, 25, during a large disturbance with shots fired in the 900 block of Pershing Avenue.

A short time later, a multi-vehicle crash in the 600 block of Pershing was reported, according to police. Witnesses at the scene of the crash pulled Lillybridge from the car and found that he had been shot.

Lillybridge suffered several serious internal injuries from the shooting and was on a ventilator when he was transferred to University Hospitals, Iowa City, after being treated at Genesis Medical System-East Rusholme Street. He has since been released from the hospital, according to a family member.
