Police are searching for a suspect in robbery this morning at The National Bank in Delmar, Iowa.
Police say a man entered the bank about 9:45 a.m. and demanded money from an employee, but did not display a weapon. The employee complied, and the man fled the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, Chief Deputy Kevin Cain of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department said.
Police believe the man ran into a nearby neighborhood, where he got into a small red pickup and fled.
He is described as a white male in his mid-30s, about 6 feet tall with dark hair, beard and wearing a dark sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Jackson County Sheriff Russ Kettmann, along with Maquoketa Police Chief Brad Koranda, one deputy and two police officers along with the drug dog, Ricky, were called to assist Clinton County sheriff’s deputies. DeWitt police officers and their drug dog were also asked to assist.
“We were driving the gravel roads near Delmar looking for the vehicle,” Kettmann said at noon. “We’ll now be doing that in Jackson County this afternoon.”
The National Bank is formerly the Metro Bank. Next month, it will become the Clinton National Bank.
Delmar is in northern Clinton County.
