Art exhibit

Event: The library’s January art exhibit pays tribute to the artistic achievements of Rock Island native James L. Moore Jr. (1924-2005). The exhibit can be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and by request on Saturdays.

Program on Brazil

Event: Jackie Tome will present a program on Brazil — its culture, history, education system, music and food. The program will include slides, music and a demonstration of Brazilian dance. Free.

Business plan workshop

Event: Bill Lynn, a professor at St. Ambrose University, Davenport, and a Davenport alderman, will present “Business Planning: The Key To Success.” The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning how to start their own business. The workshop will cover all aspects of writing the plan, such as using statistical research, budgeting, and marketing. Free.

The woodcarvings, handmade furniture with wood mosaic inlay and oil paintings represent works from Moore’s involvement in the local arts scene. The exhibit can be viewed 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and by request on Saturdays.
