Market forces dictate radio station changes

There seems to be some concern about WKBF changing format from liberal talk to a Christian format (although it seems to be all Christmas music now). I have lived in Davenport for two years and had no idea that 1270AM was Air America. I sometimes listen to talk radio or the sports talk as I drive to and from work, so had I known they were there, I may have checked it out. Probably not too often, as I tend to be center or right of center in my political beliefs. But my point is, they did no advertising, and apparently not enough local businesses advertised on 1270, because if there were money to be made in that format it would still be on. Radio is a business like any other. They don’t do things that aren’t profitable, at least not for long.
I like anchovies on my pizza, but not enough people order them to warrant them on the menu at some pizza places. So I either don’t have them, or I go out of my way to find a place that serves them. I don’t write letters to the newspapers complaining that this or that pizza place doesn’t have them. You people that are lamenting the loss of 1270 as a liberal talk station have the same two choices (the place that serves it is XM radio or online). Bottom line — there is no right wing conspiracy. A business changed, get over it.
