I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the Kahl Home for the care of my parents the last two years. This is definitely a ministry of healing that most people couldn’t perform. My parents were one of those couples who had an extraordinary love story for 57 years and died within one week of each other.

While both drifted into comas, all the staff who entered their rooms, from the nurses to the Sisters to the CNAs to maintenance, treated that space as holy. They said their goodbyes, gave them a kiss or a hug, held their hands and shed some tears. You cannot force emotions like that. The compassion and love was so very evident as they slipped deeper toward death.

I would also like to thank Heartland Hospice. Upon signing my mother on as a patient, I was told that everyone treats the patients as if they were their own mother or father, which was certainly the case. The care my mother received was outstanding.

It was a blessing to have been their daughter, and I was thankful to have had the opportunity to let them know that before they died in peace and dignity.
