On Christmas Eve, the Quad-City Times will republish the beloved 1897 Christmas Eve editorial from the New York Sun assuring the existence of Santa Claus. The edit, written in response to a letter from eight-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon, affirms that "faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance can push aside that curtain," to reveal the existence of Santa. "Is it all real? Ah, Virginia, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding."
That enduring prose from 1897 keeps Santa alive. But we're looking for an update. What keeps Santa real for you in 2006? Share your ideas in comments below so we can share them with readers Christmas Eve.
