Event: Trained volunteers from the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) provide free assistance to senior citizens with issues such as Medicare, health insurance and prescription plans.

Event: Look into ancient artworks from around the world and follow the events of the Christian calendar surrounding the birth of Christ during the museum’s “Sacred Christmas” highlights tour. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for those 60 and older, $6 for students with student identification, $4 for children ages 3-12, and free for members.

Winter birding adventure

Event: Niabi Zoo and the University of Illinois Extension, Rock Island County, is sponsoring a 4-H winter birding adventure for students in seventh and eighth grades. There will be presentations by the Audubon Society, an introduction to local birds, live animal presentations focusing on the Redtail Hawk and owl, an art class to learn how to draw birds and other wildlife, bird feeder construction, a bird toy making workshop, games, snacks and lunch. Cost is $20 or $15 for zoo members.

New Year’s Eve celebration

Date: Dec. 31

Time: 7 p.m.

Location: Circa ’21, Rock Island

Event: Enjoy an evening of dining, dancing, and entertainment. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner at 7:45 p.m. The Bootleggers will perform a holiday pre show followed by Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. After the show, there will be party favors, champagne, and a dance. Tickets are $72.80 for adults and $52 for students. For reservations, call (309) 786-7733, Ext. 2.
