Winter birding adventure

Event: Niabi Zoo and the University of Illinois Extension, Rock Island County, is sponsoring a 4-H winter birding adventure for students in seventh and eighth grades. There will be presentations by the Audubon Society, an introduction to local birds, live animal presentations focusing on the Redtail Hawk and owl, an art class to learn how to draw birds and other wildlife, bird feeder construction, a bird toy making workshop, games, snacks and lunch. Cost is $20 or $15 for zoo members.

New Year’s Eve celebration

Location: Circa ’21, Rock Island
Event: Enjoy an evening of dining, dancing, and entertainment. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a buffet dinner at 7:45 p.m. The Bootleggers will perform a holiday pre show followed by Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.
