DELMAR, Iowa — The death of a 13-month-old Delmar girl last week was ruled a homicide Monday by the Iowa state medical examiner.

Arryana JoLee Clark died between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Genesis Medical Center-DeWitt.

The girl and her parents, Marvin Clark and Jessica Barnhart-Clark, lived in a building that had been converted into an apartment on the farm of Jessica Barnhart-Clark’s parents, Noel and Nancy Barnhart, at 1879 270th Ave., Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln said.

The sheriff’s department received a 911 call to the residence about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and found the injured girl.

Arryana died as a result of head injuries, Dr. Julia Goodin, the state’s chief medical examiner, said. She declined to be more specific about the head injuries or what caused them.

The investigation into Arryana’s death is continuing, Lincoln said Monday. He also declined to release additional details about the circumstances of her death.

“We have not yet figured out all the particulars,” he said.

Clinton County Attorney Mike Wolf said he had not received the report from the autopsy conducted by Goodin as of Monday night. He said no charges have been filed.

“We don’t want to rush to any conclusions,” Wolf said.

Private family services for Arryana will be held today at Buckhorn Cemetery in rural Maquoketa.

An Arryana JoLee Clark Memorial Fund has been established by the family.
