MAQUOKETA, Iowa — Exactly one year after a major break-in to Sunshine Pre-School and Day Care, the center was hit again.

However this time, they broke in, but didn’t take anything, Police Chief Brad Koranda said.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend 2005, thieves broke a rear window to gain entry to the facility located on Creslane in Maquoketa. About $500 in cash and a $2,000 security VCR were taken, and $200 damage was done to the window last year.

On Sunday morning, the janitor reported the same window broken, but on the opposite end, to gain entry. Koranda said the intruder shut off the video camera, which was running. Nothing appears missing and there was no vandalism. Koranda said the center made some changes in the last year in how it handles cash.

Two juveniles were charged in last year’s theft.

Koranda said the new break-in is still under investigation.
