Teen used beer bottle in home-invasion attack

CARBON CLIFF, Ill. — A Silvis teenager is in police custody after allegedly using a beer bottle to cut a man Sunday at a residence in Carbon Cliff.

Javier A. Salas, 17, of 227 Greenwood Ave., was charged Monday with home invasion and aggravated battery.

The incident happened at a residence in the 100 block of 6th Street and was investigated by the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department. According to the charges, Salas knew people were present in the home when he went there and cut one man on the arm and head with a beer bottle.

Salas remained in custody Monday at the Rock Island County Jail on $100,000 bail. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing Dec. 5.
