A Libertyville, Ill., man was killed when he apparently lost control of his car early Sunday on Interstate 80, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident happened shortly after 3:30 a.m. near the 281.5 mile marker on Interstate 80.

Drew Palcek, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving a 1998 Honda Accord east when he apparently lost control and went into the ditch on the south side of the road, according to the sheriff’s department.

Palcek was thrown from the car, which rolled over in the ditch then came to rest on its right side.

Scott County deputies, the Walcott Fire Department and Durant Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Accident Response Team.
