Martini Shake-Off charity benefit

Event: Sample trendy martinis prepared by local restaurants and bars to benefit Variety-The Children’s Charity of the Quad-Cities. Tickets are $40 each, $75 for two tickets, at Red Crow Grille, Biaggi’s Ristorante Italiano, Centro Restaurant, Crave Bar Grill & Fondue Room, Thunder Bay Grille, The Copia Martini & Wine Bar, Steeplegate Inn-Lucky’s, The Lodge Hotel & Conference Center, Farraday’s, Below Brady, The Brown Bottle, Bass Street Chop House, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, Northwoods and Mac’s Tavern.

Volunteerism conference

Event: “How Baby Boomers Will Change Volunteerism as We Know It,” by Dr. Elizabeth Weinstein. Includes lunch, breakout sessions and activities, sponsored by MVDOVIA. Cost is $40 for members, $50 for nonmembers.

Mother/daughter overnight retreat

Event: Join other moms and eighth-grade daughters at Women’s Health Services event at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 to 11 a.m. Nov. 11. Learn how to improve your relationship through better communication and enjoy fun activities and entertainment. Fee: $15 per mother/daughter.

Bald Eagle Eco Cruise

Breakfast honoring veterans

Time: 8-11 a.m.

Location: St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport

Event: Bend of the River Pilot Club sponsoring breakfast to honor local veterans. Wear uniform or bring military I.D. and receive $1 off breakfast. Breakfast is $3.50 for pancakes, sausage, juice and beverage. Also, bake sale and craft sale. Proceeds benefit youth projects, including Friendly House.
