A 25-year-old Davenport man who was shot Sunday night was in fair condition Monday at a local hospital.

Michael Ray Williams (also known as Michael Ray Nunn Jr.) told investigators he was attacked by several men while waiting in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of a Wendy’s Restaurant, 1545 W. Locust St.

Williams is the son of former professional boxing champion Michael John Nunn, 43, of Davenport, who was sentenced in January 2004 to 24 years in federal prison on drug conspiracy charges. Nunn is being held in Leavenworth, Kan., and due to be released in June 2024.

Williams said he was shot as he tried to get away from his attackers, police reported. The suspects took his vehicle, and it was later found abandoned six blocks from the scene. The restaurant employees called police after Williams ran inside and collapsed, police said.

A hospital spokesman said Williams was in fair condition Monday at Genesis Medical Center-East Rusholme Street, Davenport.

Police were continuing their investigation Monday, but they said no suspects had been identified.
