Event: The Henry B. Tippie School of Management Masters of Business Administration for Professionals and Managers at the University of Iowa, a member of the Quad-Cities Graduate Center, is designed to develop general management skills and understanding of interrelationships among business functions.

Location: Quad-Cities Graduate Study Center, 639 38th St., Rock Island

Event: Informational meeting sponsored by St. Xavier University for practicing teachers who want to expand teaching repertories and improve students’ achievement. Enroll for winter 2007 and receive a $100 discount.

Art classes

Date: Oct. 21

Time: Varies

Location: New Art Building, 610 35th St., Rock Island

Event: Children ages 7-8 create masks and textile prints from 9:30-10:30 a.m. or drawing and watercolor techniques from 11 a.m. to noon. Children ages 9-12 learn pastel landscapes or textile designs from 9:30-10:30 a.m. or basics of drawing from 11 a.m. to noon. Children 4-6 can make reptiles out of paper mache from 9:30-10:30 a.m. or do a pirates’ cove from 11 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by Kaleidoscope at Augustana College. Cost is $32 for most classes.

Noogiefest

Date: Oct. 21

Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Gilda’s Club, 1234 E. River Drive, Davenport

Event: Annual Halloween party for children, rooms decorated with different themes, games and activities. Sponsored by Davenport Noon Optimists. Children may wear costumes and must be accompanied by an adult.

Book fair

Date: Oct. 23

Time: 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Location: Bettendorf Middle School Library, 2030 Middle Road, Bettendorf

Event: The fair also will be open from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26 during parent-teacher conferences.

Fruit sale

Location: Davenport Central High School, 1120 Main St., Davenport

Event: Student musicians are taking orders for citrus and mixed fruit, nuts and candy. Proceeds benefit the school’s music programs. For more information, call (563) 359-4091.

Cheer clinic

Date: Oct. 22

Time: 1-3 p.m.

Location: Pepsico Recreation Center, 1025 30th St., Rock Island

Event: Augustana College will hold the clinic for students in grades kindergarten through eighth. Participants will learn cheers, jumps, stunts, tumbling and a dance that will be performed at the Oct. 23 Augustana football game. Cost is $20.
