Bettendorf Homecoming in full swing this week

The Bettendorf High School Bulldogs are celebrating a perfect season so far during Homecoming Week.

Earlier this week, students dressed up for College Sport Day, Twin Day and Senior Pajama and Class color.

Today, students are showing off their interpretations of crazy hair, and the Homecoming Parade takes place at 6 p.m., with line-up at Splash Landing at 23rd and Middle Road. The route goes along Spruce Hills Drive to 18th Street and onto the high school and TouVelle Stadium. There is no rain date, Athletic Director Mark Brooks said.

Tensions heighten on Friday with Black and Gold Day and the homecoming football game against opponent Clinton High School. The varsity game will begin a half hour after the sophomore game wraps up at TouVelle Stadium.

Brooks will introduce the Most Loyal Fans of Alan and Chris Coe and Jim and Marty Strieck, along with the coaches and captains of the football team.

The class floats will be displayed at the football game Friday night, weather permitting.

This year’s candidates for Homecoming Queen are: Lauren Brandt, Jami Fitzgerald, Daniele Gilbert, Erica Kabat, Megan Lovich, Kelsi Poole, Ashley Sevigny and Lizzie Solveson.

The King candidates are: Marcus Cavanagh, Grant Friemel, Josh Gabelmann, Tyler Hughes, Tyler Pierotti, Colin Sandeman, Charlie Schwartz and Greg Stroh.

The week wraps up on Saturday with the Homecoming Dance from 8:30-11 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. This year’s theme is “Under the Sea.”
