Fall frolic

Date: Oct. 6

Time: 4-7 p.m.

Location: Friendly House, 1221 Myrtle St., Davenport

Event: Hosted by Friendly House and Taylor Heights Neighborhood Coalition. Food will be available from 5-6 p.m. Activities include bingo, face painting, pumpkin painting, a pumpkin seed spitting contest and baseball competition sponsored by Davenport Noon Optimists.

Monopoly tournament

Date: Oct. 6

Time: 5:30-10 p.m.

Location: The Abbey, 1401 Central Ave., Bettendorf

Cancer benefit

Date: Oct. 7

Time: Noon to 5 p.m.

Location: At The Boulevard, 1801 10th St., Moline

Event: Event will benefit Bill Ray Mathey of Port Byron, Ill., who is battling cancer and wishes to return to Paducah, Ky., where he was reared. Chili will be served and raffle tickets sold. Fund set up at  DHCU Community Credit Union.

Disabled awareness awards

Date: Oct. 7

Time: 6:30 p.m.

Location: St. Boniface Hall, 2516 Pershing Blvd., Clinton, Iowa

Event: Banquet, dance and awards by Clinton Coalition for Disabled Persons Inc. Call Mount St. Clare Speech and Hearing Center at (563) 242-4070 for reservations.

Harvest festival

Date: Oct. 7

Time: 3 p.m.

Location: City Park, 110 W. Vine St., Wheatland, Iowa

Event: Contests, accordion band, meal served from 5-8:30 p.m., Lovedogs play from 8 p.m. until midnight. Fundraiser for Wheatland’s Sesquicentennial, planned for August 2008.

Date: Oct. 7

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location: Heritage Temple Corps, 2200 5th Ave., Moline

Event: Benefits the Salvation Army Heritage Temple Corps.

Texas hold ’em Poker

tournament

Date: Oct. 7

Time: Noon to 11 p.m.

Location: Leisure Time Billiards, 845 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline

Event: Top prizes are shopping spree at Best Buy or trip to Las Vegas. There will be $30, $60 and $90 satellite tournaments and $40 single table tournaments as well as $1-$10 beginner games. Must be 18 or older to play. Proceeds benefit St. Anne’s Parish, East Moline.

Civil War roundtable

Date: Oct. 8

Time: 2 p.m.

Location: Butterworth Center, 1105 8th St., Moline

Event: Lynchburg, Va., will be discussed. Robert E. Lee headed there with the remnants of the Army of Northern Virginia after the fall of Richmond/Petersburg to Union forces in April 1865. Free.

Octoberfest

Date: Oct. 8

Location: Blueport Junction, 6605 W. River Drive, Davenport

Event: The day begins at noon with a 50-mile poker Fun Run for two and four wheels. Participants can purchase hands for $5 with payouts for the top three best hands. Kids activities begin at 3 p.m. and will include face painting, bobbing for apples, hayrack rides, pony rides.

Pork chop dinner

Date: Oct. 8

Time: 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Location: Calco Commmunity Building, 201 Main St., Calamus, Iowa

Event: Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for under 12 and free for preschoolers.
