Hillsdale man charged with assaulting children

HILLSDALE, Ill. — A Hillsdale, Ill., man is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting three children.

Joseph C. Horton, 34, of 544 Jackson St., is charged in Rock Island County Circuit Court with three felony counts of criminal sexual assault.

According to the charges, Horton is accused of assaulting a 12-year-old boy Sept. 22 and a 14-year-old boy from April through June. He’s also charged with assaulting a 16-year-old girl from August to December 2004, when the girl was 14.

Horton remained in custody Thursday in the Rock Island County Jail on $150,000 bail.

His next scheduled court appearance will be Tuesday.
