(Larry Fisher/Quad-City Times) Students at Trinity Lutheran School in Davenport gather at the flagpole Wednesday for the annual "See You at the Pole" worldwide celebration where students pray for national leaders, families and schools.

Students, staff and others at Trinity Lutheran School gathered around the school’s flagpole for praise and prayer this morning as part of the annual “See You at the Pole” event.

The theme of this year’s event was “Be Still and Know that I am God,” which comes from Psalm 46:10. The students and others sang praises, read scripture and prayed around the school’s flagpole at the corner of West Central Park and Marquette.

In 2005, more than 2 million teenagers got together before school for the “See You at the Pole” event across the country, according to information provided by Trinity Lutheran School eighth-graders Stephanie Kilmer and Amber Farrar.

A youth group in Burleson, Texas, started the event in 1990 and has grown worldwide since then.
