A Rock Island man faces charges after leading authorities on a chase Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

Samuel Rush, 25, was charged with driving with a suspended license, aggravated fleeing and eluding and reckless driving.

Authorities attempted to stop Rush at about 4:15 p.m., thinking he was somebody else. But Rush, who is wanted on warrants out of Rock Island and Scott counties, fled, said Rock Island police Sgt. Tim McCloud.

After a nearly five-minute chase, Rush bailed out of the car and tried to escape on foot but he was caught, police said.

The chase began at 7th Street and 14th Avenue and ended at 4th Street and 11th Avenue. However, it included wider swaths of the city’s west end,  McCloud said.

Rush, whose address was not available, was being held in the Rock Island County Jail without bond Tuesday night.
